Our school years...

Created by Lucy 5 years ago

Tom was lucky enough to spend both his primary and secondary school years with me, and I was fortunate enough to call him a friend for all those years and many more to follow... As you can see from the photos I have uploaded from our school days, Tom was never the boy you wanted to sit behind in assembly, you wouldn't be able to see a thing! But he was always the boy you wanted to hang out and play with... (And when I say play, I really mean kiss chase) Fortunately for Tom, I couldn't run fast. And I still can't for that matter.

From those fond school memories to his very last text message he sent me, there was a constant joke between us; how tall and thin he was, and how short and no-so-thin I am (for everyone's information I'm actually 5"3). He used to hold my school books, my pens and my PE trainers high above his head so I couldn't reach them. Hilarious until it backfired... He held my trainers outside the school bus window one day and then dropped one. His face was a picture to remember! I returned home with one shoe less than I left with. Thinking about it, I miss those carefree days. Things just didn't matter back then... Or was it the fact that I now had a genuine excuse to get out of cross-country? Maybe that was the reason we had to travel on separate buses to school?! Did we just have too much fun together Tom??

I will wholeheartedly miss the way we could pick up a conversation like it never ended, and speaking to him was so easy. And if I could remember what we spoke about on our walk back from Peterborough beer fest that one year, I'd share it with you all as I'm sure you'll be belly laughing like I did all the way home. Unless it was the beer... Either way, it was the BEST WALK HOME EVER. I'll be sure to drink one more of those nasty '3 blind mice' beers next time I go, and will think about how you much you made me laugh and smile.

I will bloody miss you, you lanky bastard. Love your tiniest friend. xxx
